2003-02-17NIX.CZ facilitates IPv6 based peering

NIX.CZ, z.s.p.o. has launched a platform for native IPv6 member interconnection. This platform is equivalent to the common interconnection based on the current IP protocol, referred to as IPv4. This step has ranked NIX.CZ among notable European peering nodes offering IPv6 protocol based peering. Members of NIX.CZ have obtained an instrument allowing them to further evolve their networks in the spirit of future Internet development.

IP version 6 (IPv6) is a successional protocol of the current IP (referred to as IPv4). It tries to cope with some of the problems brought in by Internet development that current IP4 protocol cannot solve. Gradual exhaustion of IPv4 addresses also sets an important case for IPv6 implementation, as this protocol offers unrivalled scope of the address space.
