2006-11-21Czech Internet has reached another milestone - total traffic through NIX.CZ has exceeded 20 Gbps

Czech Internet continues in exponential growth. The data traffic through peering node NIX.CZ has exceeded 20 Gbps yesterday. After less then a year the traffic has doubled again.

The reason of this growth, apart from the growth of Internet users is further growth of high-speed Internet access through ADSL, cable TV, various forms of high-speed wireless and optical access via FTTx. Also there is a rise in bandwidth-demanding services.

In future, more growth is expected, especially with regard to TV over Internet (IPTV) and Video on Demand (VoD) services.

Exceeding if the 20 Gbps boundary has strengthened the position of NIX.CZ among worlds largest interconnection points and reaffirms NIX.CZ importance as an important Internet crossing at global scale.
