On October 26, 2009 the data flow through the NIX.CZ infrastructure has reached 100Gb/s. NIX.CZ - 4 collocation within the Czech capital, number of connected members and customers 94, number of connected ports 154 (including 38 high-speed 10Gb/s ports).
The significant increase in data flow through the largest local Internet Exchange NIX.CZ has not stopped despite the general economic downturn. The present figures are double compared to 50 Gb/s in October 2008 and ten-fold compared to 10Gb/s in December 2005.
The permanent increase in the number of Czech and foreign members and customers, which is the decisive criterion for evaluating the purposefulness of an Internet Exchange, indicates the trust NIX.CZ Association enjoys in this field. Mainly the ever growing proportion of newly connected foreign companies demonstrates high quality of provided services and importance of the Association not only Europe-wide. At present, the proportion of foreign countries connected to Association’s infrastructure amounts to 15%.
The increasing demand for high-speed ports proves that peering is a very attractive solution even for the largest companies in the field, despite the low prices of transit.
“NIX.CZ has become the eight only Internet Exchange in Europe which has reached 100Gb/s.”, says Mr Tomáš Maršálek, Director of Association.
